The 5-storeys building “Naturquartier” in Kufstein is currently Tyrol’s biggest residential timber construction. Within the scope of Interreg project BigWood, our Consortium partner proHolz Tirol organised a guided tour at the construction site to showcase the timber building process to selected stakeholders from universities, architectural & planning practises, timber industry & construction, property developers and political representatives. 35 highly interested participants seized the opportunity to get a glimpse of the unfinished interior of the wooden building. The tour was moderated by proHolz chairman Karl Schafferer and proHolz managing director Rüdiger Lex.
The building offers 34 flats, ranging from small studios of 25m² to large 120m² penthouse apartments. It counts with direct access to the stream Weißache and with an underground car- and bike-parking area. More information about the project can be found here: https://www.natur-quartier.at/
Split into four groups to keep a safe distance, the visitors were taken through the wooden building shell and had the possibility to directly discuss their questions with the project’s architects (Henrich Veternik Walter ZT GmbH), constructors (Schafferer Holzbau GmbH), owners (Unterberger Immobilien GmbH) and wooden panel providers (Binderholz GmbH). After the tour, the participants met at the spacious penthouse floor for an intersectional exchange about the chances and challenges of multi-storey timber constructions.
